Juice is often considered a healthy alternative to soda and other sugary drinks for our children. It is refreshing and, hopefully, high in vitamins. Unfortunately, it is also one of the worst offenders for our teeth. The acid and sugars found in most fruit juices break down healthy enamel tooth structure and can lead to tooth decay at an early age. Many fruit juices actually have the same amount or more sugar than that in sodas.
HOLD ON- TARZANA KIDS DENTISTS & ENCINO KIDS DENTISTS RECOMMEND TO NOT DRINK JUICE?
The occasional juice isn’t the problem. We just drink too much of it. Each time the sugar and acid in the juice is introduced to the teeth, it starts to break down our enamel. Therefore, it is important to limit the amount of times that sugar and acid is consumed. Watered-down juice with mealtime is preferable to drinking juice throughout the day because we are already consuming sugar with our meal.
